The OQEMA Group is an european distribution company for basic chemicals and specialties headquartered in Mönchengladbach, Germany. We are a family company and have been active in the chemical industry for more than 100 years.

On the Iberian peninsula, OQEMA is based in Barcelona and Madrid in Spain with a subsidiary in Lisbon, Portugal, and was formerly known as Proquibasa.

As OQEMA we continue to be a chemical distribution, manufacturing and marketing company with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, quality and sustainability.

OQEMA serves customers globally, providing a broad range of products in areas including:

The company is focused on meeting its customers’ requirements on a punctual basis from its comprehensive chemical stock holdings and has long-term relationships with both suppliers and customers.

History

Established as Alcoholes Barcelona in 1966, the company has grown to become one of the leading distribution companies of specialties and chemicals in Spain. Today OQEMA Iberia employs 55 people and regularly serves about 1,500 customers which are valued in excess of EUR 60 million in annual sales.

Alcoholes Barcelona S.A. was founded by Mr Carlos Socias Raventos

Alcoholes Barcelona divides its economic activities into two business lines, Chemicals Products and Alcohols, giving rise to Proquibasa S.A.

Proquibasa becomes a member of the OQEMA Group, one of the top ten chemical distributors in Europe
